Our Educational Objectives (“Dare to Dream of a Brighter Future”)
The education programs of the Xavier Jesuit School project in Cambodia aim to empower young people and teachers to respond to the wonder of God’s creation and human history by developing their intelligence and knowledge through free inquiry and the use of reason. Our aim is to form young people of conscience who are competent, compassionate and committed to the service of others especially the poor. Our programs aim to help the young to understand and respect the rich heritage of wisdom and values of Khmer culture while at the same time encouraging the young people to critically respond to the wisdom and values of other cultures. The programs will have a strong emphasis on knowledge of the human and natural sciences and on scientific reasoning. Our school is a Catholic school, inspired by faith in Jesus-Christ as Savior, yet already deeply embedded in a society where Buddhism has been the major religion and Islam a minority religion for centuries. The wider objective of Catholic education is the fullest possible development of the talents of each individual person as a member of the human community. The five key words guiding the physical development of the project are "Happy Learning Community", "Khmer Village", "Safe", "Silent" and "Nature".
