16th Feb 2022 — Three of our primary school students, together with students from fourteen (14) other private and public schools, joined the annual reading competition held by the Department of Education in Banteay Meanchey. All three of them successfully bagged prizes in three different categories.

  • Samnang Monineath, 3rd Prize (Grade 4 Category)
  • Khamsan Minea, 3rd Prize (Grade 5 Category)
  • Saiyann Chanthla, 4th Prize (Grade 6 Category)

The competition requires each candidate to read a Khmer paragraph for two minutes. They are scored based on fluency, intonation, accuracy, and tone clarity. XJS vows to continue cultivating the love for reading among the students through various library programs.

The three students expressed their happiness because they could represent Xavier Jesuit School and win the prizes. They also thank Teachers Katherine and Saya, who had trained them for more than one week to improve their reading skills and build up their confidence.
