On the 11th of September 2014 from 8.00 to 10.00 a.m., the official closing ceremony of the “Summer School” project sponsored by the Xavier Jesuit school team took place. Mr. Leung Hok, the Director of the Sisophon Education Office and Mr. Vong Sokhom, the Principal of Teuk Thla middle school both attended. One of the young students, Mr. Yang Saron, 13 years old, gave a speech on behalf of all the students. He thanked the “Meta Karuna” NGO (Jesuit Service Cambodia) for preparing this special program. He shared that before he was not courageous to speak to to ask questions. The lessons had helped him understand the link between study and life. He hoped that the program would continue next year. Five of the eight classes prepared a sketch or a song to share insights experienced over the previous 27 class days. Other students received prizes for excellence in study while others received prizes for essay writing (this groups turned out to be all girls!). A small group of five students received prizes for the most improvement as they could neither read or write at the beginning and they could do both in rudimentary fashion at the end. These students were all boys. In the afternoon a final evaluation took place with the teachers. Facebook : Xavier Jesuit School Cambodia
