Thank You Sofie!

Sofie de Rijck a P.E. instructor at the Teacher Training College in her own country, Belgium arrived to Xavier Jesuit School, Sisophon on November 26th 2018. Her Project: Learning Outcomes of P.E. in Primary School.

From her arrival on November 26th until November 30th  Sofie displayed all the expertise and skills of a wonderful Instructor and Teacher Trainer. Every Primary School Class had the opportunity of being taught by her. They learnt by doing! The joy, enthusiasm, determination and competition was evident in both the students and the Teachers, as she taught them various motor skills of balance, hand to eye co-ordination, running,  and the social and interactive skills of working in pairs and also in groups.

For our Teachers, observing her in action, from her preparation of the Hall, to conducting each P.E lesson was a tremendous professional development for them. In each P.E. Lesson, she highlighted three phases: Warm up activity, main lesson with clear objective and finally closing with a simple game: Mr. Wolf, where are you?

On the Final afternoon, she very generously facilitated a session for the Teachers in which re reviewed some of the Learning Outcomes of P.E.  She left behind some very helpful equipment and also a Teaching manual, illustrating the various Lesson Plans and learning outcome.

Xavier Jesuit School does not presently have a qualified P.E. Teacher, so this short but intense visit was a wonderful opportunity for us to learn from someone so gifted and so generous who shared as much as she possibly could in the short visit. Sofie, we are indebted to you and await your return!
