Two Singaporean Mathematics teachers, Ms. Kate Chan and Ms. Belinda Tan, from Singapore introduced Xavier Jesuit School teachers to the Singaporean Maths’ teaching method on the 9th, 10th and 12th of September 2019.
The first two days were dedicated to assisting XJS primary school teachers in conveying Mathematics in a simple and fun way. The third day was dedicated to our high school Maths teachers. Both Kate and Belinda shared their experiences of teaching Mathematics in their school in Singapore and paid special attention to discovering and solving Maths formulas before applying them to problems. XJS hopes the teachers will return next year to continue to share more strategy and pedagogy in making Maths easier for our students to understand.
