Today is a sad day for all at the Xavier Jesuit School Project. Ms. Thy Srey Vy, a grade 1 primary school student, at Dey Lo has just died (on the 29th of January at around 9 p.m.). As Srey Vy was not feeling well for the last few days, her parents took her to the Komar Angkor Children’s hospital in Siem Reap. There they discovered that she had the rabies disease which she must have picked up from a dog-bite two months ago. Srey Vy is the last of seven children. She was always quiet and well-behaved since she started at our Kindergarten School three years ago. She had just turned seven years old. The doctors were concerned that other children may have caught the disease but Srey Vy never exhibited any signs of aggressive behavior to anyone. As the family is poor, the cremation ceremony will take place this afternoon behind the family home. Many of our teachers and staff will attend.
