On the 1st of February 2017, two new remedial Khmer class started at the Community Learning Centre for the children of the local primary schools who cannot yet read or write Khmer. The Principals of Phnom Bak and Banoy Primary Schools provided the list of names and the students came to enroll according to their level. There are nearly twenty students in each class. Mr. Chhay Sovann, acting as Assistant to the Director of the Community Learning Centre, teaches the most basic level and Mr. Kham Somnang, from the Phnom Bak school, teaches the higher level. These classes will continue for the two months of February and March, by which time, the students should be able to read and write sufficiently well to follow their lessons at school.
