The month of June is a busy month at Xavier Jesuit School (XJS), as it is recruiting time for new students for the next academic year.
This year, we had 209 students applying for 90 places for the next school year in our Primary School section. The number of students applying in each grade were: K2 = 103, K3 = 19, Grade 1 = 22, Grade 2 = 18, Grade 3 = 16, and Grade 4 = 31. The entrance examination took place last Monday, the 17th of June 2019, which included: (i) Khmer language, and (ii) Mathematics.
The teachers are now busy grading the examination papers. After grading, the Primary School selection committee will make a final decision to whom the 90 available places will be offered to.
In the Middle School, we had 149 students applying for 75 places. Applications for Grade 7 = 107 and for Grades 8 & 9 = 42. The entrance examination took place last Saturday and Sunday, the 15th & 16th of June 2019 respectively. All the students were examined on four subjects: (i) Mathematics, (ii) English, (iii) Khmer language, and (iv) General Studies.
This week, our teachers are busy grading the examination papers. On Saturday, the 29th of June 2019, an interview with the new student applicants together with their parents will take place. This is to ensure we make the right decisions to whom the 75 available places will be offered to. A challenging task for the XJS selection committee to discern together.
