On Saturday and Sunday the 21st and 22nd of May 2015, Dr. Yew Jin Ong and Dr. Allison from Singapore led a medical team to conduct medical screening of all the kindergarten and grade 1 children from our two schools at Dey Lo Community Kindergarten School. The team included two Khmer dentists, two Khmer medical students and five Singapore medical students. Each child was accompanied by either parents or grandparents. Our kindergarten teachers helped guide the children to and from their medical examinations. The local Commune Chief and local Health Centre Chief attended and approved the proceedings. The families were delighted to see their children being cared for and examined thoroughly by the medical team in this way. It became clear that the health of the children in our Dey Lo school is weaker than in our Phnom Bak school. Over the next month, our school team will follow-up each case with local doctors or with the children’s hospital in Siem Reap if necessary. Thanks to Dr. Yew Jin Ong for arranging this screening for the children of Xavier Jesuit School!
