On Friday the 7th of April 2017, the Xavier Jesuit School Community celebrated three Khmer New Year parties on the last day of school before the two-week break. The children at Dey Lo and the children at Phnom Bak had their parties separately with their own teachers. The children listened to an explanation of the history and cultural background to the Khmer New Year celebration before playing various games together. They also enjoyed a lively presentation on their own school activities over the last year. The grade 7 students had a spelling-bee competition and a trip to Banteay Meanchey Water Park as part of their New Year celebration. In the evening all the kindergarten, primary and secondary teachers along with the school administration staff gathered for the annual staff party and barbeque. Then everybody went home to celebrate the holiday with their families.
