For two weeks in the middle of April, Cambodians celebrate their new year holiday. Families are reunited for this holiday and there are parties, dancing and rituals carried across the county.

At Xavier Jesuit school, we held our annual Khmer New Year party. The teachers, staff and their families joined in a meal and celebration to mark of the end of the year together. The sharing of food and drinks was, as always, followed by music and dancing enjoyed by both our primary and secondary school staff.

The staff outing for the primary school staff took place from April 9-12th in Kompong Som. Despite the long bus journey, spirits were high as the staff sang, danced and enjoyed the 11 hour bus trip.

The visit included preparing food together at the church accommodation in Kompong Som, a visit to the Kbal Chhay waterfall, some time for photos and swimming at Ochheuteal Beach in Kompong Som and another day we visited the beautiful Otres beach, where the staff relaxed together.  This was a special trip as it was the first time for some of the teachers to visit the seaside!

The XJS secondary school staff outing took place in Siem Reap where the staff enjoyed a day visit to Kbal Spean waterfall and the next day took a trip to the silk farm to watch the process of silk production. Another successful trip to build good relationships between our staff members.

A huge thank you to all of the staff who spent time preparing each of these events for the good of our school community!
