BMC, Cambodia | Twenty-eight graduates and award winners, together with their friends, family, and guests enjoyed a warm congratulation on their achievements at the Xavier Jesuit School (XJS) First High School Graduation Ceremony.

Held at XJS Multipurpose Hall on Friday, 16 December, they were presented with their diplomas, certificates, and awards. The 2022 graduates had to cope with COVID lockdowns and remote learning for at least two years of the duration of their studies.

Fr. Jinhyuk Park, SJ, School Director, said: “Today is a meaningful day for all of us to celebrate all the efforts that made our dream of nurturing the seeds of Cambodia’s potential through quality education at XJS turn into reality, and to thank all of you who have dedicated yourselves to make this dream come true.”

As for Fr. Ohchang Kwon, SJ, Delegate of Korean Provincial, shared three important points regarding the school’s motto “Dare to Dream a Brighter Future.” He hopes that students can be bold to challenge new areas, keep dreaming, and reflect on one’s ‘brighter future’ endlessly.

This batch best students, Han Chhinhly for Grade 12-Science Class and Pav Sina for Grade 12-Social Science Class also gave an excellent and inspiring speech on their varied challenges and experiences that contributed to their holistic learning and growth as a young individual.

Xavier Jesuit School was absolutely delighted to organize the first Graduation Ceremony for high school department. A set of monks came to bless the beginning of the program. Afterwards, a series of performances from the Dance Club, primary and secondary school students, Khmer Traditional Music Club, and XJS-Secondary School Choir graced the ceremony. Towards the end, fifteen priests headed by Msgr. Enrique Figaredo, SJ, Apostolic Prefect of Battambang, came to bless the 28 graduates and gifted them with plants.

Again on behalf of XJS, we highly appreciate the presence of the following: Dance Club, Khmer Music Club, XJS-SS Choir, primary school and grade 11 students, our teachers, staff, school benefactors, former volunteers, former school director, members and friends of Jesuit Mission Cambodia, guests, and most especially the parents of our students who fully entrusted us with their children’s education. We thank you all for making the event more remarkable for our graduates and for our school.

Lastly, to our first batch of high school graduates, we are so proud of all of you. Congratulations and good luck on your university studies. We could not wait to see your next achievements and successes in life. All the best!
