On 21st October 2019, Korea CPBC Youth Choir visited Xavier Jesuit School to perform a professional concert. The CPBC Youth Choir was founded in 2000 under CPBC, Korea Catholic Peace Broadcasting Company, with the mission to spread God’s love with their beautiful voices. The CPBC Youth Choir is well-known as a professional youth choir not only in Korea but also in various countries throughout the world. On this occasion, twenty-eight CPBC Youth Choir students, from Grades 4 to 9, came to Cambodia as young lay missionaries to inspire the Xavier Jesuit School students.
The concert was one hour long, including two sessions. In the first session, three traditional Korean ballads and hymns in English and German were sang. The second session was filled with the classic ”Sound of Music” movie soundtracks with amusing movements.
From the start of the concert, their peaceful harmony rang out to every corner of the multi-purpose hall. It was the first time for the Xavier School students to listen to a real choir in front of them. Especially for the new students, the choir harmony gives unfamiliar yet exciting experiences. Also, the students were inspired by the professional choir who are around their age-group.
After the CPBC Youth Choir concert ended, the Khmer Dance Learning Program took over. Seven of our high school students stood on stage to teach three popular Cambodian Dances; Madizone, Ro’bam Longbong, and Chuck-Kempeas. Despite the students not being able to communicate in their own languages; they were able to share in the delights and excitements during the dances.
Through singing and dancing, the students became one group. We appreciate the students of the CPBC Youth Choir for sharing their valuable time and thank our students for sharing their culture full of joy.
