On the 3rd of February 2017, from 2.30 to 4.00 p.m., six kindergarten teachers from the Xavier Jesuit School project participated, for the first time, in a training session at Chamnaom Church, organized by the Salesian Sisters and the Battambang Prefecture. Sr. Van (FMA) guided the workshop on free-play. She clarified the difference between adult-led play and child-led play and demonstrated the significance of child-led play in the psychological development of children. The teacher has the responsibility of providing space, time and places for child-led play. The teachers were concerned about safety. The critical teaching skill to develop is a “benefit and risk” assessment that will grow with teaching experience. The participation of our XJS teachers in this program was sponsored by Joy of Sharing in Korea.
