On the 2nd of February 2017, the Director of the Xavier Jesuit School Project, Fr. Ashley Evans S.J., sent a letter to the parents and guardians of each and every student in our schools in Dey Lo and Phnom Bak. In this letter, we offered advice on the steps to take in the case where a dog bites a child at home or in the village. We advised extensive washing with soap, water and disinfectant followed by an immediate visit to the hospital so that a Doctor can administer the necessary injections. We furthered advised dog-owners to vaccinate their dogs against rabies and suggested that all the villagers should cooperate with the local authorities to deal with stray dogs that enter the village.
