All contests were given 60 minutes to write a Khmer Poem based on a particular topic. After that, their outputs would be marked according to (a) relevance to the topic, (b) correctness of the poem structure, and (c) grammar and mechanics.
Sreynang, as third placer, brought home a school bag, notebooks, and a reusable water bottle from POE. Aside from that she also received variety of school materials and inspirational book from the High School Department.
Sreynang shares to other contest aspirants, “If you want to join the contest first you need to be clear about what type of poem you need to write, be aware of the time limit, be certain about each word you write on paper because they [POE] give one sheet, make sure that your poem is related to the given topic, and be careful about the words you use. These strategies can help you succeed in poetry writing contest as well.”
The HS Department would like to thank Mr. Rath and Ms. Sokchea for coordinating the contest. Also, we would like to extend our gratitude to Mr. Peng Samrith, Khmer Teacher, for guiding Sreynang through this journey.
To Sreynang, your XJS family is very proud of you!
