On the 19th of July at 9.00 a.m., Mr. Staeng Tung Heung, the Director of the Provincial Education Office of Banteay Meanchey Province welcomed the Xavier Jesuit School Leadership Team to his office. The Director of the Primary Teacher Training College of Banteay Meanchey Province, Mr. Tep Nan was present as were the Provincial Education Officials responsible for Community Learning Centres, Secondary Schools, Kindergarten Schools and for Youth. Fr. Ashley introduced Fr. Quyen Vu who will replace him as Director of the Xavier School Education project on the 1st of September when Fr. Ashley will leave for a sabbatical. He also introduced Br. Damo Chour, the new Director of the Community Learning Centre and Mr. Duch Videth, the acting Human Resource Officer who will replace Ms. Phon Sonai after she leaves to get married in Spain. There was no need to introduce Mr. Mouk Rath, the Secondary School Vice-principal as all the Provincial Officials knew him well already. Mr. Staeng Tung Heung thanked Fr. Ashley for his kind words and indicated that he will have to resign also after another six months. He agreed to the proposed date for the official opening ceremony of Xavier Jesuit School on the 2nd of December 2017 and indicated the contact person for the preparation details. He also indicated that he welcomed all efforts to collaborate in the improvement of the training programs for primary and secondary teachers in the Province. He looked forward to continued good collaboration with the new leadership team of the Jesuit Service Cambodia’s education project.
