I arrived in Cambodia on Saturday 12th December, almost a year ago now.  It has been an amazing year jam packed with wonderful experiences.  The day of my arrival happened to coincide with the birthday celebration of Ms Sonai Phon, our wonderful project manager, so, on day one I got to share a meal of authentic Khmer food with all my future colleagues who have since become my friends.  I will never forget the warmth of the welcome I received that day.

During this year I have had the opportunity to do many things.  I have been lucky enough to have taught children and adults, and everything in between – and this is always the best part of my day.  Teaching Khmer students, no matter the age, is a heartwarming experience.  They are eager and enthusiastic learners and they want to know everything about you – teacher and student quickly become friends.

I consider myself very lucky to be part of this community and to be involved in the early stages of this project, to be part of a team of Khmer staff and international volunteers all working together with a common goal.  To help to improve the conditions and provide a better future for the local communities, through Education…daring to dream a better dream, and forging some wonderful friendships along the way.
